A story of recovery, confidence, and the body’s natural ability to heal.

A Client’s Real Healing Journey with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
A story of recovery, confidence, and the body’s natural ability to heal.
Two weeks after his tummy tuck surgery, our client walked through our doors feeling worried, uncomfortable, and a little defeated. His incision area didn’t look the way he expected it to, and he had started to notice early signs of delayed healing. Emotionally, he was drained. Physically, he was uncomfortable. Mentally, he just wanted reassurance that things were going to be okay.
Alongside his NHS care, which included dressings, drainage and follow-up checks - he wanted something that could support his body on its recovery journey. That’s when we suggested trying Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as part of his wellbeing plan.
Before we go on, it’s important for us to say what we say to every client:
At The Detox Clinic, we don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions, and we don’t claim to heal anyone. Our role is to support the body’s natural detoxification and recovery processes. The healing is always the body’s job - we simply create a supportive environment for it.
He understood this completely and decided to give HBOT a try.
Where We Started: A 7.9cm Area of Concern
On his first visit, the wound measured around 7cm wide and the client stressed and unsettled. He was understandably anxious - most people would be, his biggest fear was, “What if this doesn’t get better?”
But he showed up. Session after session. Open-minded, hopeful, and determined.
What Happened Over Six Sessions
Across his six HBOT sessions, we saw steady and encouraging changes:
• The tissue looked healthier and more nourished
• The area around the incision became calmer and less angry-looking
• The wound appeared more stable and supported
• And perhaps most importantly, his confidence grew
Every time he came out of the chamber, he seemed a little lighter. A little more reassured. A little more like himself.
He continued to receive treatment and monitoring from the NHS, and we continued to support him in the background, gently and consistently with HBOT.
A Timeline Transformed
At one stage, his doctors suggested his full recovery may not happen until 2026.
After adding HBOT into his routine, he shared with us that, for the first time he felt genuinely hopeful he could be healed by Christmas.
To us, that shift in mindset is just as important as the physical progress. His body was doing the healing - HBOT simply created an environment that supported that natural process.
All of our therapies, including HBOT, are designed to help your body do what it’s naturally capable of - Repair, Recover and Rejuvenate.
How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Supports the Body
Curious how HBOT can fit into someone’s recovery journey? Here’s a simple overview:
1. It gives your body a “breath of fresh air”… well literally oxygen.
Inside the chamber, you breathe oxygen at higher-than-normal concentration than air and under atmospheric pressure.
This means your blood becomes saturated with oxygen far more than usual.
And oxygen is the fuel your cells need to repair, recover, and rejuvenate. *1
2. By oxygenating the body, it can help calm stressed or irritated tissues and promote healing.
People often notice the skin looking less angry or inflamed after sessions.
HBOT helps support the body’s natural ability to settle swelling and soothe tissues that have been under pressure from surgery or injury. *2
3. It supports your collagen and tissue-building cells.
Collagen is essential for wound healing - and oxygen helps your body make it.
HBOT provides the perfect oxygen-rich environment for your repair cells to work efficiently. *3
4. It can help oxygen reach areas that need a little extra support.
Some tissues temporarily have reduced circulation after surgery.
HBOT helps oxygen dissolve into your plasma and reach areas that might otherwise struggle to receive optimal oxygen supply. *4
5. It can support you before surgery too.
Some people use HBOT beforehand to help their body feel stronger, nourished and ready — like topping up your inner battery before the big day. *5
6. And after surgery or injury, it can feel like giving your body a gentle boost.
Clients often describe feeling:
• more energised
• more comfortable
• more supported
• more positive
• and more “themselves” again
As always: HBOT isn’t a replacement for medical care - it’s a supportive, wellbeing-focused therapy that many people find incredibly helpful. *6
